Overview

Below is a snapshot of benefits we have to offer.

Medical & Dental Insurance

Choosing a plan is an important decision. Most employees and their families are eligible for medical, dental, basic life, and basic long-term disability insurance plans approved by the Public Employees Benefits Board. Employees may choose the medical program that will best suit their needs from the available plans.

Flexible Spending Account

FSAs allow you to set aside pretax money from your paycheck to pay for out-of-pocket health care expenses. Setting aside a portion of your pay with an FSA reduces your annual taxable income. Your election will be deducted from your paycheck pre-tax throughout the plan year, so you don't pay FICA (7.65%) or federal income tax (up to 37%) on your elected dollars.

Retirement

State employees are members of the Washington Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS). New employees have the option of two employer contributed retirement programs

Additional Insurance Options

The PEBB Program provides basic life and basic accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance at no cost to employees enrolled in the full benefits package. You can also enroll in supplemental life and AD&D insurance for yourself and your eligible dependents.

Paid Holidays & Leave

A minimum of 14 days of vacation leave per year and 12 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.

Telework & Flexible Schedules

We encourage a healthy life/work balance by offering flexible/alternative work schedules, wellness program, mobile arrangements, and telework opportunities.

Commute Trip Reduction

Washington's Commute Trip Reduction (CTR) Law, enacted in 1991, encourages eco-friendly commuting options like public transit, carpooling, biking, walking, and telecommuting.

Loan Forgiveness & Tuition Reimbursement

OFM recognizes the value of well-educated and well-trained employees and supports the tuition reimbursement program within available funds. Employees are encouraged to further their personal and professional development goals through appropriate formal education programs.
